It is the purpose and intent of the Council to establish a Privacy Advisory Board to serve as an advisory body to the Mayor and Council on policies and issues related to privacy and surveillance. The Board will provide advice intended to ensure transparency, accountability, protection of rights, and public deliberation in the City’s acquisition and use of surveillance technology.

The City of San Diego’s Office of Boards and Commissions was created in 2018 to support the day-to-day operations for the City’s 49 boards and commissions and serves as an access point to the volunteer members appointed by the Mayor and City Council.

These entities serve in a fiduciary, regulatory, policy-setting and/or advisory capacity. The Office includes the existing executive directors and staff positions that support the following: Accessibility Advisory Board, Commission for Arts and Culture, Community Review Board on Police Practices, Commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention, and Human Relations Commission.
