This meeting started an hour and 27 minutes late. The monthly Rule 45 report was approved and a presentation was given on Fund 925 of the Annual Appropriation Ordinance Year 2025. Finally, a change on some 47th Ward budget allocation was discussed and passed to be voted on later.

The meeting is called to order at 3:27pm by Committee Chairman, Jason Ervin. Roll-call is taken and there is quorum with 18 committee members present in-person and 6 members remote.

The first order of business is public comment which opener with Tyjuan Sims. He says he plans to not get kicked out of any City Council meetings this year to witness exactly how the city will get around $1.12 billion in debt stemming from the migrant arrival.

Anthony Pruitt is saying he’s “here to speak the truth.” He poses the following questions: “why are we selling off our property to the highest bidders? Why are new arrivals getting red carpet treatment while CPS is millions in debt & doing layoffs weeks before school begins?”

Matthew Schmitz, Deputy Director of rhe Office of Budget and Management, is here to present the amendment within Fund 925 of the Annual Appropriation Ordinance Year 2025.

The amendments are in reference to additional state and federal funding being secured for the Chicago Department of Public Health and the Department of Transportation.

A motion is passed for do-pass for the last order of business— the transfer of funds within the 47th ward wage allowance/Aldermanic expense account for year 2025. This will be presented at the next City Council meeting on July 16th.
