@cledocumenters @signalcleveland There was 10 people who spoke for public comment. These individuals were from ward 3, ward 15, ward 11 and Cleveland
One of those individuals was Kristen Fragassi from Cleveland heights. Her grandmother, Susan Hepburn Beach, designed Cleveland's city flag. Her design was chosen from an open competition to design Cleveland's official flag, October 21st 1895.
Based on the consensus from a focus group, it was determined that the flag was outdated and needs to be updated. Kristen believes that the flag does not need to be redesigned, as it still represents Cleveland's industries
Another individual from ward 3, was concerned about Metro Health going back on their word, about making a park after finishing construction. This park was going to be placed on west 25th and would be the largest ark in the Clark-Foulton neighborhood.
Another Cleveland resident was concerned about Cleveland Metropolitan School District receiving more levys. She noted that other states have bigger graduating classes. She says the programs for Cleveland children they have are benefiting others
She thinks they are not being taught the same way the other cities are. She also noted that a councilman "said something a long the lines of" Constituents "complaining." She says the council should pretend to care about what the people care about
Resident Brenda Bickerstaff thanks Mayor Bibb for getting rid of McCue. She asks Kazy and Polensik what they said to the council and police so the Consent Decree can leave
There were many members of the public that came in support of Cudell park. one of these members was Tamir rice's mother, Samaria Rice. They thank the mayor and council for ceasing construction.
They established that they would like the Cudell memorials to be preserved, unobstructed and open to the public forever. they will only approve of a plan that assures this.
Samaria Rice noted that there are alternative sites for the school and that she doesn't want to fight with the council
A member of Ward 15 was concerned about the "faulty code imposed" on the Cudell neighborhood. He believes the council is up-zoning the area for investors. He said this code makes curtain areas commercial zone like for hotels, bars & restaurants taking away from residential areas
He thinks this will raise housing prices creating displacement for vulnerable households. He want the code to go back to the committee
