Commissioner Linda Bernard said the board does not currently have a quorum. If they don’t get one soon, they will hold public comment and then end the meeting.

Going into public comment.

  1. Thanks the police chief for meeting with him to discuss drag racing and drivers running red lights.

He’s telling attendants that they are pushing mayoral candidates to explain what they will do about drag racing and running red lights in the city.

  1. Resident said the commander and captain wouldn’t talk to her and refused to believe she was attacked by somebody.

“They ran me out of my home,” she said. “Me and my baby no longer felt safe and said we have to leave.”

Bernard tried to cut her off because she was out of time. The commenter continued to express her frustrations because she feels the police aren’t taking her seriously.

  1. Minister Eric Blount commented but I was catching up from the last comment and missed it. Blount frequently comments at BOPC meetings voicing his frustration with inadequacies in the department.

  1. Resident of district 2 is talking about a resolution passed last week to protect the first amendment. She thinks the BOPC should clearly state that they won’t tolerate any federal troops on the streets.

“Our police sets the standard for what we expect from law enforcement,” she said.

  1. Resident expressed his frustration with the department’s slow response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

Gasp!

We’ve never seen THIS before: public comments (ignored), then adjournment?

The audacity.
